Parts of a Toilet Explained
For the purposes of this article, we are going to focus on the inside of the cistern of your toilet. Check out the following toilet parts names and their functions. Flush valve - this is a self closing valve that releases water into your bowl when the toilet is flushed. It can be found in toilets and urinals.
Fill valve - provides the water to fill the cistern tank.
Flapper - the flapper works with the flush valve to release water into the bowl. When the button is pressed, the chain is lifted by the taken lever when loosens the flapper and allows water to flow.
Refill tube - This fills your bowl water and ensures the water level remains at a constant level.
Roller clamp - you can regulate the fill level of your bowl with a clamp that attaches to the refill tube. This will help you save water and reduce the chance of a running toilet.
Float - this is a water level regulating device that helps control the level of water in your cistern tank.
Chain - The flush lever pulls the chain to lift the flapper and release the water.
Overflow pipe - the overflow pipe provides the water that refills the bowl after you flush. It helps to ensure that your cistern tank does not overflow with water.
