HYJET MMP Series Stormwater Mini Pump Pits
When gravity drainage isn't possible — low-lying backyards, below-grade building areas, or sites where surface runoff pools without a natural outlet — a stormwater mini pump pit provides the solution. The HYJET MMP series is a preassembled, ready-to-install stormwater collection and discharge system combining a Reln pit body with a Class A galvanised steel grate and a heavy duty cast iron vortex submersible pump.
Each unit arrives preassembled and ready to install, with an automatic float switch on the pump that activates once water reaches the trigger level and switches off once the pit is emptied. The inlet is installed on site to suit the specific drainage configuration. Systems run on standard 240V 10 Amp power supply and are rated for use in residential, civil, and industrial applications.

MMP Series — Pit Sizes and Capacities
The MMP series is available in three pit sizes, each suited to different collection volumes and site requirements.
| Pit Series | Dimensions L x W x H (mm) | Sump Capacity | Available Pump Models |
|---|---|---|---|
| MMP300 | 345 x 345 x 450 | 32L | HV180-AV |
| MMP450 | 560 x 560 x 510 | 76L | HV180-AV, HV750-1A |
| MMP600 | 710 x 710 x 660 | 175L | HV180-AV, HV750-1A |
Selecting the right pit size depends on the volume of surface runoff the system needs to collect and the available installation footprint. Larger pits provide greater surge capacity — useful where heavy rainfall events generate significant inflow before the pump can discharge.
Choosing the Right Pump: HV180-AV vs HV750-1A
Each pit size is available with one or two pump options. The choice of pump determines the system's flow rate, discharge head, and solids handling capability.
| Specification | HV180-AV | HV750-1A |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 0.18 kW | 0.75 kW |
| Max Flow | 133 L/min | 300 L/min |
| Max Head | 7m | 10m |
| Outlet Size | 32mm | 40mm |
| Solids Passage | 15mm | 25mm |
| Cable Length | 10m | 10m |
HV180-AV suits standard residential stormwater collection where flow volumes are moderate and the discharge distance or elevation is not excessive. The 32mm outlet and 7m max head cover most typical residential drainage scenarios — low-lying backyard areas discharging to a kerb or stormwater pit within a short run.
HV750-1A is the higher capacity option, delivering more than double the flow rate and a higher discharge head. It suits applications where larger volumes of water need to be moved quickly, the discharge point is at greater elevation or distance, or where heavier debris loading is expected. The 25mm solids passage provides better tolerance for coarser material entering the pit.
For the MMP300 series, only the HV180-AV is available — the 300 pit is suited to lighter duty residential and temporary applications where the smaller pump capacity is appropriate.
Key Features of the HYJET MMP Series
- Preassembled and ready to install — pit body, grate, and pump arrive as a complete unit; inlet connection is made on site to suit the drainage layout
- Automatic float switch — pump activates automatically when water reaches the trigger level and shuts off once the pit is emptied, requiring no manual intervention
- Heavy duty cast iron vortex pumps — cast iron construction provides durability in demanding conditions; vortex impeller design handles solids without clogging
- Class A galvanised steel grate — Reln pit with Class A rated grate suitable for light-duty, non-trafficable surface areas
- Up to 25mm solids handling — HV750-1A equipped pits handle coarser debris, reducing the risk of pump blockage in real-world stormwater conditions
- Temperature rated to 40°C — suitable for pumping warm water or operating in high-ambient-temperature environments
- Not suitable for raw sewage — MMP series pits are designed for stormwater only; sewage applications require a purpose-built sewage pump station
Typical Applications
HYJET MMP stormwater mini pump pits suit a range of residential, civil, and light industrial drainage scenarios:
- Low-lying backyards where surface water pools after rainfall and cannot drain by gravity to the kerb or stormwater system
- Below-grade building areas including sunken courtyards, basement entries, and areas below the natural drainage line
- Building sites for temporary stormwater management during construction
- Driveways and carparks in non-trafficable light-duty areas where surface runoff accumulates
- Civil drainage works requiring a compact, preassembled pump pit solution
The MMP series is rated for light-duty, non-trafficable areas. For installations subject to vehicle traffic loads, a trafficable-rated pit system is required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a stormwater mini pump pit used for? A stormwater mini pump pit collects surface water runoff and pumps it to a discharge point — typically a kerb, stormwater pit, or drainage system — in areas where gravity drainage is not possible. They are used in low-lying backyards, below-grade building areas, building sites, and similar applications where water pools without a natural outlet.
What is the difference between the 300, 450, and 600 series pits? The series number refers to the approximate pit footprint dimension in millimetres. The MMP300 (345 x 345mm) has a 32L sump capacity, the MMP450 (560 x 560mm) holds 76L, and the MMP600 (710 x 710mm) holds 175L. Larger pits provide greater surge capacity for higher inflow volumes and are available with the higher-capacity HV750-1A pump.
Which pump should I choose — HV180-AV or HV750-1A? The HV180-AV (0.18kW) suits standard residential stormwater applications with moderate flow and discharge distances up to 7m head. The HV750-1A (0.75kW) delivers more than double the flow rate and a 10m max head, suited to higher volume applications, longer or higher discharge runs, or where greater solids handling capacity is needed.
Are HYJET pump pits suitable for sewage? No. The MMP series is designed for stormwater only and is not suitable for raw sewage. Sewage applications require a purpose-built sewage pump station with appropriately rated pumps and wet well construction.
Do HYJET mini pump pits require a licensed plumber to install? Yes. Stormwater drainage connections must be carried out by a licensed plumber in accordance with AS/NZS 3500.3 (Stormwater Drainage) and applicable state plumbing regulations.
What power supply do HYJET pump pits require? All MMP series pump pits operate on standard 240V 10 Amp single-phase power supply. Electrical connection must be carried out by a licensed electrician.
