Recess Boxes are usually installed as follows;
New Homes or Extensions
As the brickwork is being laid
Usually installed before the plumbing rough-in
Secured by fold-out brick ties incorporated in the box

Existing installations
By cutting an opening in the brickwork
Strengthening with a lintel as necessary
Secured by drilling holes in the sides and fix in position with suitable flush headed masonry anchors
